Audiometry/ Hearing tests

14. AUDIOMETRY (HEARING TESTS)

People in many cases do not understand how their ears work and how they can be affected by normal medical conditions and noise exposure whether is occurs at home, at work or socially. At Ashling we have a philosophy based on “Prevention is the Key”. We have a PowerPoint training programme based on The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005. We use computerised audiometry testing enabling us to:
  • Explain the results of the current test (as shown graphically on the screen) to the individual.

  • Subsequent tests are superimposed on the baseline allowing progressive changes to be immediately identified and communicated to the individual concerned. Where appropriate advice is given on hearing conservation.

  • Management are also informed of the individuals hearing category as defined by the Health & Safety Executive, together with an understanding of the categorisation system.

  • The programme enables us to run reports on the numbers of people in each of the HSE 4 hearing categories thus enabling the employer to check the effectiveness of his hearing conservation programme.

  • Where appropriate a letter is sent with the audiogram to the individuals GP outlining any abnormal findings thus facilitating appropriate follow up as required.

  • Carry out testing on your site thus saving you valuable employee and production time and costs subject to a minimum number of costs per visit.
