5. ASSESSMENTS UNDER
THE DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION ACT
This legislation requires employers to carefully consider the medical
aspects relating to significant health issues, which may come under
the scope of the Act.
Accredited
occupational health professionals have an expertise in medical risk
assessment. We assess the individual’s medical assets and
liabilities in relation to their precise job requirements, visiting
the workplace, to see if there are any problems and identify possible
ways forward.
We
can advise on relevant issues such as:
· The extent of the medical condition.
· Whether in our professional opinion, the DDA may be applicable
in any given case
· Making “reasonable adjustments”.
· Advising on the individual’s ability to perform suitable
alternative, available work.
