Nature
recognises the importance of our sight by building in natural protection
like eyelashes and blinking. But these cannot cope with many situations
at work where we are faced with foreign matter and splashing. We
have made this video, which simulates the steps to be taken when
a person accidentally gets a chemical into their eye.
Target Audience:
Employees and managers who may have to carry out this procedure
This video
stresses the importance of eye protection equipment and the dangers
of ignoring it. But accidents still occur. When they do, swift action
by others can help to reduce eye damage. A splash of chemical in
the eyes is portrayed and the correct method of washing out the
eyes is shown in detail. To be effective this must be immediate
and prolonged, but medical help must be summoned.
All employees
at risk should know the dangers of neglecting eye protection and
exactly what to do if a colleague is affected. This video will help
them to learn. Practical demonstration of the use of eyewash bottles
after the presentation is effective. An opportunity should be given
for discussion and those who attended will have their attendance
recorded in their medical records
